A Farewell to CDS

I don't know if it's just the province of Nova Scotia, or if it's taking place everywhere these days, but it is a near impossible task to get your hands on a physical album these days! It's pretty sad when you have to resort to Walmart or Zellers to buy a CD. I spent this past weekend in Halifax and figured I'd have no problem finding some new albums to listen to. I was sadly mistaken. Even strolling down Barrington St. to my favourite spot on Earth, CD Plus, I was shocked to find that it, as well as the other used CD shop across the street, had been completely shut down. Even the CD Plus inside Halifax Shopping Centre had been turned into a calendar store. Not my idea of a party. I don't know if it's that I am simply an old school type of cat, or what it is, but I would much rather add to my CD collection, rather than relying solely on MP3s. I love going through the liners for the production/writing credits, I love all the additional information that most people just simply discard. I never missed cassettes when CDs became the norm, but I sure do miss CDs now that they are being phased out.
